The Chicago White Sox (4-4) bounced back from their loss to the Colorado Rockies (4-5) Monday to win 15-3.  Before a crowd of 25,393, White Sox batters racked up 19 hits and six home runs to even their interleague series at Coors Field.

Rockies starter Franklin Morales (0-1, 6.94) had struggled throughout the game but managed to keep his team within two runs until the seventh inning.  To begin the inning Morales was able to get the White Sox starter Jose Quintana to fly out to right field.  Morales then hit Adam Eaton and gave up a single to Marcus Semien.  Manager Walt Weiss replaced Morales with Chad Bettis who proceeded to give up a three run homer to Jose Abreu (1).   Morales ended his day going 6 1/3 innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking four.

In the eighth inning, the White Sox poured it on against beleaguered reliever Wilton Lopez.  In the inning, Lopez gave up back to back homers to Avisail Garcia (2) and Alexei Ramirez (1),  a RBI double to Marcus Semien (2), a two run homer to Jose Abreu (2), and a RBI single to Avisail Garcia.  Lopez was finally yanked for Tommy Kahnle who made the final out on Ramirez.  When the inning finally came to a close Lopez had given up six runs on eight hits.

When asked about Lopez's performance Weiss said, "I don't like to leave a guy out there as long as I did, or take him out in the middle of the inning and have him walk off the field," Weiss said. "He's always a guy that's up for the challenge and be in there in good times or tough times."

Quintana (1-0, 2.77) picked up his first win after quieting the Rockies bats for seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out four and walking two.  The only damage the Rockies could muster against Quintana was a Michael Cuddyer home run (3) fourth inning and a double by Troy Tulowitzki (3) that scored Brandon Barnes in the sixth inning.

On not being able to pitch into the eighth inning Quintana said, "I wanted back for more and more, I understand long inning."

The Tyler Chatwood return from the disabled list on April 13 hangs over the Rockies pitching staff.  Chatwood had another good rehab start earlier in the evening with Colorado Springs, pitching 6 1/3 innings, giving up one run on five hits, and striking out eight.  After tonight's pitching performance by the Rockies the likely move would be Morales heading to the bullpen and Lopez being demoted to Colorado Springs.

Post Game Brief:

Cuddyer extended his hitting streak to nine games.

Abreau broke out of his slump going 2-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI's.  He credited a phone call from his mother earlier in the day telling him to relax.

Gonzalez and Charlie Blackmon both had a scheduled night off.

Quintana's victory broke a string of 28 no-decisions dating back to 2012.

Wednesday's probable starters: RHP Erik Johnson (0-1) - RHP Juan Nicasio.  Game Time will be 1:10 MDT.
