The Arizona Diamondbacks (1-5) help the Colorado Rockies (1-3) open their 2014 home schedule with a three game set beginning Friday, April 4th, at Coors Field.  The Diamondbacks come to town after completing their season opening homestand against the San Francisco Giants who took three out of four from the Diamondbacks.  Prior to the Giants series the Diamondbacks opened the regular season in Sydney, Australia against the LA Dodgers.

All Time Series:  The Diamondbacks and Rockies series dates back to Arizona's inaugural year of 1998.  The Diamondbacks lead the all time series 159-123 but the Rockies lead the series at Coors Field 74-67.  Both teams met in the 2007 NLCS at Coors Field where the Rockies swept the Diamondbacks on their way to their first and only World Series appearance.

2013 series record:  The Diamondbacks took the season series last year 12-7. The Colorado Rockies were 5-4 at Coors Field.

Last meeting:  09/22/13 at Coors Field.  Diamondbacks defeated the Rockies 13-9.

04/04 at 2:10 PM MDT:  RHP Randall Delgado (0-0 0.00) - RHP Juan Nicasio (0-0 0.00) 

Delgado made his his only 2014 regular season appearance out of the bullpen for the Diamonbacks on March 23 against the Dodgers in Sydney.  He lasted 2/3 of an inning giving up one hit and a walk.  This will be NicaBrasio's first appearance of the regular season.

04/05 at 6:10 PM MDT :  RHP Brandon McCarthy (0-0 6.75) - RHP Jorge De La Rosa (0-1 10.38)

McCarthy had a no decision against the Giants in his 2014 debut on March 31.  He lasted 6 2/3 innings, gave up five runs on six hits, four strikeouts, and one walk.  De La Rosa got the loss against the Miami Marlins in his 2014 season debut on March 31.  He lasted 4 1/3 innings, gave up five runs on four hits, six strikeouts, and two walks.

04/06 at 2:10 PM MDT:  LHP Wade Miley (1-1 5.25) - LHP Brett Anderson (0-1 4.50)

Miley got a victory in his last start against the Giants on April 1.  He lasted seven innings, gave up four runs on six hits, five strikeouts, and one walk.  Anderson got the loss in his 2014 regular season debut against the Marlins. where he lasted six innings, gave up three runs on five hits, struckout two, and walked only one.

Diamondback notes

Top Pitcher:  Trevor Cahill: Cahill went six innings, giving up two runs on four hits to the Giants in his last start.  Unfortunately, the Arizona batters didn't provide any run support.  Cahill will not pitch in the Rockies series.

Top Hitter:  Paul Goldschmidt: Goldschmidt is batting .423 with one home run, three RBIs, and four doubles.  His current hitting streak of 25 games passes Tony Womack for second place on the all time Diamondback list.  He is only five behind Luis Gonzalez's 1999 record.

Rockies notes:

Top Pitcher:  Brett Anderson:  Anderson is the only Rockies pitcher from the opening series against the Marlins to last six innings.  In his Rockies debut he allowed three earned runs on five hits.

Top Hitter:  Michael Cuddyer: Cuddyer has picked up where the he left off last season as the NL Batting Champion.  Cuddyer went 7-17 (.412) with a home run and four RBIs in the opening series against the Marlins.
