After a disappointing fourth-round loss at Wimbledon, world number four and 2013 finalist Agnieszka Radwanska has withdrawn from the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford with a right hand injury. Radwanska, who fell in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Angelique Kerber here last year, has struggled with form and consistency at times this season, winning only one title in 2016 in the first week of the year in Shenzhen.

Radwanska on her withdrawal from Stanford

"Unfortunately, the right-hand injury I suffered at Wimbledon is not 100 percent and my medical team has advised me to rest," said the 27-year-old Pole.

In a message to her fans in Stanford on twitter, Radwanska said "sorry everyone! Hope to see you all next year!!!" The 2013 finalist will next play at the Coupe Rogers in Montreal, where she will look to defend her title from 2014 in the Quebec city.

Radwanska's past Stanford results

Radwanska first played in the Bay Area back in 2009, falling in the second round to Slovak Daniela Hantuchova. The Pole then made a deep run the following year, reaching the semifinals before falling to five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova. The world number four reached the quarterfinals in 2011 losing to German Sabine Lisicki before skipping 2012, also an Olympic year.

In 2013, the former Wimbledon runner-up made her best ever run in Stanford, reaching the final only to fall to Slovak Dominika Cibulkova in an entertaining three-set final. The following year the Pole fell in her opening match to American Varvara Lepchenko before reaching the quarterfinals in 2015, bowing out to eventual champion Angelique Kerber.
